Beverly Hills Hotel Celebrates 100 Years of Luxury

The Beverly Hills Hotel is celebrated its 100th Anniversary last year and I couldn’t let it pass without a mention. One entire century of iconic celebrity clientele, anyone who is anyone, daahhling: from Marilyn Monroe and John Lennon to Madonna and Katy Perry. W.C. Fields used to hang out in its bar, celebs like John Stamos have been married there and the annual Oscar party brings everyone famous who hasn’t already stayed here.

The great-grandson of the hotel’s founder even has a book about the hotel’s grand Hollywood history, “The Beverly Hills Hotels and Bungalows.” Privacy has always been a main goal of the hotel, just ask Howard Hughes, Charlie Chaplin or Elizabeth Taylor.

When I was in high school, my parents took us here–to visit, not to stay. I was mortified, he wanted to see the rooms and he always gets his way. My dad decided to pretend that we were looking at the rooms, as if we were so selective to have to see the room before we would book a bungalow. Turns out the little luxury connoisseur in me appreciated this stint when I all was said and done (and the red-faced teenager in me was over being so terribly embarrassed.) The rooms were gorgeous, we checked it out just after the hotel’s $100 Million dollar restoration in 1995. The hotel now has 200 rooms and over 20 bungalows! And they’re big enough for elite clientele to bring staff! One day! Mark my words 🙂

Expect to spot celebrities here if you pop by, and if it’s a bit too pricey for your stay, be sure to drop by the iconic Bar19 for a cocktail, which are seasonal and divine! Check out a “Fig Sidecar” or a “Pumpkin Pie,” which features house infused vanilla vodka!
