5 Amazing Afternoon Teas to Try in New York City

My darrrrrlings, I am so sorry for staying away for so long. Things have been hectic with the pregnancy and preparing for baby! As promised I will still be bringing you tons of luxury content but I will also be blogging about lots of other luxe living (and probably a few diaper changes too).

Since I haven’t been drinking alcohol during the pregnancy (obv), I have become addicted to High Tea. Recently I visited the St. Regis for its new Afternoon Tea and Historic Tour. I loved every moment of it. Miraculously, I had somehow never been to the St. Regis New York until last week. The tour transports you back to the Gilded Age where you follow in the footsteps of Salvador Dali and Marilyn Monroe. Salvador Dali is one of my favorites so I loved hearing all the zany stories about his antics when he lived at the property.

You wander the historic halls with a member of the concierge staff and get an inside look at the Fifth Avenue icon’s cloud-dappled lobby, behind the doors of its suites, beneath the chandelier-adorned ceilings and more. You learn the story of John Jacob Astor IV and Caroline Astor, members of the hotel’s founding family.

What to do New York City

I also loved learning about the history behind some of St. Regis’ most beloved traditions from the invention of the Red Snapper to Afternoon Tea to the Astor Library. It concludes with a delightful and extravagant Afternoon Tea! The sandwiches were divine! Best tea sandwiches I have ever tasted in fact. So soft and fresh! I have never understood the appeal of the stale crusts. The tour is offered Saturday and Sunday afternoons for $75/person.

In case you missed it, I also adore the Afternoon Tea served in the Star Lounge at the Ritz Carlton.

And the Afternoon Tea at the Palm Court at the Plaza. Spoiler alert! They’re both included in my Forbes article about the best places where you should go for a luxurious High Tea in New York City.

Americans have embraced all things British — from the Royals to Harry Potter to high tea. The latter is a time-honored afternoon tradition that has become somewhat of a weekend ritual in New York City, a time for busy locals and tourists alike to enjoy a civilized cup of tea in some of the most posh settings in town. Just remember, pinkies up!
