The Mulberry Project Opens Project 1919, A Pop-Up Speakeasy
Just when you thought New York couldn’t get any cooler with its secret, unmarked speakeasies–they invented a new way to make you feel like you’re the most VIP of all VIPs! How you ask? Well, they’ve opened Project 1919, a super-exclusive speakeasy in the back of the Mulberry Project (also a speakeasy–one layer of secrecy just wasn’t enough). You’ll have to call ahead to reserve a table in this uber luxe enclave hidden behind a locked door–which of course only opens if you’re on “the list.”
Once you’ve been deemed worthy, you can cozy up in this intimate space and sip on some seriously boozy cocktails made with barrel-aged spirits. The policy is no standing room so its atmosphere is laid-back and relaxing. The drinks aren’t for the faint-hearted, but the staff is determined to make Manhattanites give their menu of exclusively dark spirits a whirl. The menu was curated by mixologists Sam Ziar (Bourgeois Pig) and Jasper Soffer (Pegu Club and Soho House) so expect perfectly balanced cocktails that slip down easier than you may think. If you absolutely refuse to relive the dark days of the Prohibition, they’re pretty accommodating and will find you pretty much anything you’re looking for (don’t tell ’em I told you though or I’ll never get back on the list!)
This project is only scheduled to run for three months so come quickly to Project 1919, before it turns back into a pumpkin, err I mean the summer garden. Reservations are required. Project 1919 is open Monday-Thursday from 5 PM until close.
Reservations are required and can be made through the Project Group website.
