Welcome Katie Lara: Best Hotels in NYC: Four Seasons New York Downtown in Tribeca Review

*I was given a complimentary stay for purposes of this review. However, as always, my opinions are honest and up front, just like my disclosures.*

To celebrate the end of an amazingly successful (if I do say so myself) maternity leave, my hub and I decided to do a little mini staycation in the city since we weren’t quite brave enough to really take our new baby girl on the road. Being a travel blogger as some perks from time to time, we were offered a chance to stay at the Four Seasons Downtown New York for free to write a review and share our experience as a luxe-loving couple new to the world of family travel. We had the most amazing time and stay at this incredible hotel.

Four Seasons Downtown New York Lobby

Arrival

Getting downtown with a bay on your own very well may be more difficult than getting to a foreign country pre-baby. But we made it. Lil Babe and I took the new Second Avenue subway and arrived a couple hours before my husband to check in. The staff was very friendly and I always love the FS Doormen. They make my day with their warm welcomes.

The Grounds

The Four Seasons Hotel New York Downtown is located in Tribeca in New York. Steps away from One World Trade Center and Ground Zero.

The Pool: The fact that this hotel has a pool is one of my favorite parts! There is an amazing 75-foot lap pool for hotel guests on the third floor.  The seating makes you feel like you’re outside in the sunshine at your beach club even when the temperatures are sub-zero.

The Fitness Club: The gym is open 24/7. I spent zero time there so I really don’t have much to say.

The Lobby

The lobby is welcoming and you will find the concierge and front desk in close proximity. Either place can help you with making any dream you have a reality. Four Seasons staffers are always as helpful as can be.

And these stairs…cue prom pose or dramatic entrance please!

The Rooms

The rooms are located on floors 7 through 24. There are 189 guest rooms – including 28 suites – and they begin at a spacious 400 square feet. The rooms are warm and residential yet extremely modern and filled with all the comforts you can expect from the Four Seasons.

Think automatic shades, iPad ordering capabilities and more.

Please note, the room does not come with my ridiculously adorable cutie pie. Sorry.

We stayed in the Hudson Suite. It was exactly what I want my NYC apartment to look like. If only, right? It has a view of Oculus and One World Trade.

Hudson Suites have a contemporary entry and modern decor. There is unique artwork and a dedicated guest bathroom. Oh the luxury! There is plenty of room to relax, a spacious couch and leather armchair. There’s also a dining table for four. I’m obsessed with the modern amenities like automatic ambient lighting, iPad to access Hotel services,  electronic window shades and Do Not Disturb messages.

The bedroom was spacious and very comfortable. There was another giant modern TV that you can sign into Netflix if you want!

Lil babe couldn’t wait to Netflix and chill like a boss.

Closet/Dresser Details? Large! Three-way, full-length mirror inside. Also the hangers have the FS logo, which I just love.

Charging Situation? Plenty of USB charging spots and plugs all over.

Alarm: Bose stereo system

Turn-Down Service: Yep! And bottled water.

Coffee maker?  Nespresso machine with pods. And Bodum tea kettle.

Reading Material in the Room? Yes, Four Seasons magazine and couple other local magazines

White Glove Inspection: Everything is NEW, NEW, NEW! White, white, white! The glasses in the bar (there were champagne, wine and tumblers) were all spotless.

The Bathroom

The bathroom is the pièce de resistance of the room.

The modern master bathroom is your space to rejuvenate, offering an in-mirror TV and a deep soaking tub with a handheld shower faucet, as well as a separate glass-enclosed shower.

Makeup Mirror? Yes illuminated and vanity table too.

Hairdryer? Yes. High power.

Designer Toiletries? Of course.

Towel quality? Thick as thieves

Robes? Yes, for us and the baby!!! Really for a toddler but we made it work 🙂 And slippers too!

Amenities? Q tips? Shower cap? Yes and Yes.

The Food & Drink

The room service option is restaurant quality and available 24/7  just like the city that never sleeps. We have a 4 month-old daughter so we weren’t really mobile at night once she went to sleep. So we were so lucky that the room service was out of this world! The menu incorporates local dining staples like pastrami reuben, bolognese, lox and bagel for breakfast, fresh-pressed juices and smoothies, acai bowls, gourmet coffees and of course excellent wine pairings.

They take it to the next level by offering table-side preparation. We ordered the bolognese (we actually ordered it two nights in a row) and they mix the sauce and heat the pasta right there.

Seriously, that bolognese though. It was some of the best I ever had–in New York, in Italy, you name it.

And the breakfast was just seriously made for instagramming!

The hotel is also home to American Cut by Wolfgang Puck. This restaurant is a cut above the rest (pun intended). Excellent steakhouse with a totally sexy vibe. You can’t order this menu for room service. I highly recommend stopping by, it was delish!

Hotel Bar? Swanky, sexy hotel bar. Check!

Specialty? I love the amuse bouche that changes at every meal!

The Spa

This spa is a lovely urban retreat. It partnered with Dr. Burgener Switzerland, the Swiss expert in beauty and rejuvenation, and Omorovicza, from the International Spa City of Budapest, to create customized experiences found exclusively at Four Seasons Hotel New York Downtown.

The decor is understated yet fresh and sophisticated. I had one of the best massages ever and then stopped in to the relaxation room for some tea, ginger-pineapple infused water and some nuts and dried fruit.

The Little Things

Did I feel truly welcome by the staff? Always!

Wi-Fi? Yes included. High-speed Wi-Fi is extra.

Mini-Bar? Well-stocked MyBar, a neighborhood collection of food, beverages and amenities. Also a great glass selection, which I appreciate.

Special Treats:  No turndown desserts.

Good For Families: YES!!! This is an excellent hotel for families. All Four Seasons are really. They had an extremely nice crib and even included baby toiletries that are organic from Honest Company. There is no additional charge for children under 18 in rooms.

Where do Most Guests Hail From? All over. We even saw Charles Oakley in the lobby!

Room for Improvement

I couldn’t come up with anything even if I tried. It’s brand new and it’s heaven. I wish they didn’t let me eat so much and made me go to the gym.

The Wow Factor(s):

My most memorable experience was in-room dining, spa and pool!

The Bottom Line: Would I recommend it? Am I coming Back?

Absolutely, this is an amazing urban escape for luxe-loving couples (and also families) I loved it! Katie Lara approved! And can I give a shout out to all the new mommies out there! Keep up the hard work, guys! And if you’re still breastfeeding you get a super high five! You still get one if you’re not for doing what’s best for you!
