I was born in Croatia – in a small town called Bakar on the northern coast near Rijeka – but was only 3 years old when we moved to the U.S..
-
When I was little I had a habit of packing up pretty and shiny things that I found around the house, and burying them in the backyard.
-
For as long as I can remember, I’ve always loved writing. As a tween, I ran a number of e-newsletters that I designed using AOL’s email platform. One of them was called ~*Girlyz*~. (Fancy, huh?)
-
Likewise, I used to run a Backstreet Boys fan fiction website that was hosted on Angelfire. Yup.
-
I still love the Backstreet Boys.
-
I almost always talk out loud to myself or whistle while I’m working.
-
I secretly judge people who have poor grammar or spelling skills, but ask me to do simple math and I’m completely lost.
-
In October, after dreaming about it since I was a kid, my husband and I moved from Phoenix to New York City.
-
Preserving my Croatian culture is important to me.
-
I have a complete and total obsession with all cute, furry and cuddly animals, babies, things and cartoons. Before I became a freelance writer, I worked in an office setting and my coworkers once decorated my entire workspace with pictures of puppies, hamsters and otherwise cute animals for my birthday. I still have a couple of those pictures.
-
I eat at least one chocolate item a day…and sometimes more.
-
I love ABBA.
-
I am completely Type A about most things in my life…but I am almost always running late to somewhere.
-
I will work until the day I can’t work anymore, but I also love playing Suzie Homemaker – cooking, decorating and baking.
-
Besides running Style Jaunt, I’m also a full-time freelance writer and have been published in The New York Post, The Knot, Unboundary by USA Today, Sunset and American Spa. I also help companies in the travel, beauty and fashion industries with their content marketing efforts.
-
I wrote a book called The Food Lovers’ Guide to Phoenix & Scottsdale.
-
Travel keeps me sane, inspired and healthy.
-
I don’t think you need to spend a ton of money to look stylish – some of my favorite places to shop are Target and TJ Maxx – but I do have a somewhat unhealthy obsession with katespade.
-
I hate turbulence, but I actually like flying. It’s the perfect opportunity to disconnect.
-
Some of my favorite hotels and resorts that I would design my home after: Four Seasons Resort Scottsdale at Troon North (Scottsdale), Hotel St. Cecilia (Austin), Round Hill Hotel & Villas (Montego Bay) and Korakia Pensione (Palm Springs).
21. I love to eat. Love it. It’s possibly my favorite thing about life.My favorite season is fall, but I love sunny and beachside vacations.
22. I think Croatia has the most beautiful beaches on planet earth. But I could be biased.
23. One of my favorite things to do when I travel is go shopping, and I document my shopping experiences on Style Jaunt.
24. One of the coolest districts I’ve explored recently is Portland’s West End.
25. When I’m not traveling, my idea of a perfect Friday night is a delicious meal with my husband, good friends, family…and lots of wine.
